Attorney Kim Carnevale serves clients in Massachusetts. She brings almost two decades of litigation and trial experience to the firm.

Her MASSACHUSETTS-ATTORNEYpractice focuses in criminal defense and all issues of Massachusetts divorce & family law. Recognized as Outstanding Trial Attorney in 2001 by the Essex County District Attorney’s office, she has also written appellate briefs and has successfully argued before the Massachusetts Appeals court.

Her legal career began as a prosecutor for Essex County in the Lawrence District court where she supervised the prosecutor’s office of eleven staff attorneys. During her ten-year career as a prosecutor in both the District and Superior courts, she handled all major felonies including drug trafficking, armed robbery, home invasion, domestic violence, rape and sexual assault, and felony OUI.

While assigned to the Family crimes unit as a Superior court trial attorney, she was responsible for the review, screening and oversight of child abuse cases for Northern Essex County. She also acted as the liaison to the State’s protective agency on cases involving abuse of disabled persons.

Her expertise positioned her to conduct trial trainings for prosecutors and State Police on the preservation and introduction at Trial of crime scene evidence, including fingerprint, blood, and DNA evidence. Attorney Carnevale also organized and conducted annual statewide trainings for police, prosecutors and protective service agencies on the investigation and prosecution of abuse cases.

Attorney Carnevale went into private practice in 2003 with a leading law firm handling criminal defense and family law cases. Her trial experience and intricate knowledge of police investigative techniques, policies and procedures as well as the Department of Social services and other protective agencies combine to enable her to effectively identify the strengths and weaknesses of the prosecution’s case. Able to anticipate the prosecution’s strategy, she provides sound legal advice to clients to defend their legal rights.

In family law matters, she works to protect the clients’ interests to ensure the best outcome for them and their families and to minimize the emotional impact of legal issues. Her advocacy has resulted in client’s regaining custody of minor children from the other parent, obtaining a reduction in child support and successfully defending allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault in custody matters.

Attorney Carnevale’s former career was as an analyst at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland. She briefed top levels of the Agency and the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other Pentagon officials on her analysis and findings. She then worked as a paralegal for a national labor law firm, Mulholland and Hickey, in Washington, D.C. and later interned for the Attorney General’s Office in Boston, Massachusetts.
