Christine is an experienced and skilled litigator, successfully arguing hundreds of cases before tribunals throughout Central Ohio and Virginia, including the Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Social Security Administration where she has an outstanding record of winning cases and obtaining for her clients every type of compensation from temporary, rehabilitative compensation to life-time benefits. Christine is also an aggressive negotiator, obtaining favorable settlements for her clients arising from personal injury cases and work-related injuries.
Ms. Hissong is also a trainer Mediator. As a neutral mediator, Christine facilitates negotiations between parties in conflict, helping the parties to communicate, to work through the problem solving process and to arrive at a resolution of the conflict, which is then memorialized in a written agreement. Christine serves as a mediator for cases involving intact families, separating and/or divorcing families, employment issues, landlord/ tenant issues, and HOA/neighbor dispute.
While in Ohio, Christine represented many Law Enforcement Officers in Columbus who were going uncompensated for their injuries and wage loss due to injuries sustained while working “special duty”. Ms. Hissong recognized this injustice and argued to have these losses recognized not only by the Workers’ Compensation Commission but also by the Court of Claims of Ohio. As a result, the officers were compensated by the Workers’ Compensation system, and a precedent was established in the Victims of Crime Division of the Court of Claims recognizing “special duty” injuries and their resulting losses as compensable. Ms. Hissong collected many thousands of dollars for her clients through her tireless effort.
During her appointment with the Supreme Court of Ohio, Commission on Grievances and Discipline, Christine worked with a committee to establish the standards and guidelines for attorneys practicing in the State of Ohio. While with the Supreme Court, Ms. Hissong accepted inquiries from attorneys and citizens alike and in response, wrote advisory opinions designed to further the pursuit of professionalism in the practice of law.
During her career, Ms. Hissong also worked in mass tort defense involving the Love Canal hazardous waste landfills in Niagara, New York.
